The Parkland Soil Solution: Experts in Prairie Restoration
Delivering daily near Pacific Ave, Sales Road, and the neighborhoods surrounding PLU. Most Parkland properties sit on a sandy, high-drainage prairie. While this is great for avoiding puddles, it can be a nightmare for growing healthy gardens because nutrients wash away quickly.

Rebuilding Parkland Prairies: Topsoil with Added Compost
In the Parkland area, the soil is notoriously sandy and porous, meaning water and nutrients often drain away before your plants can use them. For residents near PLU or off Pacific Ave looking to establish a serious vegetable garden or a show-stopping flower bed, standard dirt won't cut it. Our Topsoil with Added Compost is the ultimate "restoration mix" for prairie land.
Why Parkland Soil is Different
Our 60/40 Topsoil Mix is specifically engineered for this terrain. We blend premium organic compost with sandy loam to create a "Soil Sponge." This adds the nutrient density and moisture retention that native Parkland soil lacks, ensuring your lawn stays green through the dry season.
For the Parkland community, the focus is on overcoming the challenges of the native prairie soil, which often drains too quickly to support a vibrant garden. To help your customers build a "Soil Sponge" that actually holds onto nutrients, adding a section for Topsoil with Added Compost is essential.

The Legacy of the Garry Oak Prairie
Long before the first classes were held at Pacific Lutheran University in the 1890s, the Parkland area was a sprawling, natural oak savanna—a rare ecosystem of Garry Oaks and tall grasses that thrived on the well-drained glacial gravels left behind by the ice age. In fact, early settlers gave the area its name because the open, sun-drenched landscape felt more like a grand European park than the dense forests surrounding it. Because this "prairie" soil is naturally porous and nutrient-poor, it requires a specialized "Soil Sponge" approach—blending our nutrient-dense organic compost with native loam—to keep modern gardens from drying out in the intense summer sun.
